Don't know if y'noticed or not, Bucky Boy, but we ain't in New York no more.

[ Maybe it's the drink talking, not that he's yet had nearly enough, but he could kill for a hot dog. ] They got the long 'ens 'round here?

There's a diner, ain't open till morning though.

[ Maybe Bucky should take him. Or tell Steve to. Instead he just leans back in his chair, mouth quirking in amusement. ] You're still a New Yorker. Don't matter where they leave you, s'where they bring you from.

Yeah? Well if you and me are still standing come morning, y'can lead the way.

[ Frowning into the beer, which is starting to look fuzzy around the edges. ] Guess I always spent way too much time in the lab.

We'll fix that.

[ Bucky drains the rest of his glass, lets it sit in the ring of condensation across the table. He likes this bar the best, enjoys it because it's quiet. It doesn't have a television, and the radio's rarely on to confuse him. ]

You're not gonna hear any objections from me.

[ Looking at the glass, Howard drips it back and finishes off the last of it. ]

Don't see why not, but I'm thinking something stronger might be in order.

Yeah? [ Arching an eyebrow. ] So what're we switching to, Stark?

Don't know about you, but I'd kill for a scotch. [ He's already up on his feet, grabbing their empty glasses. ] Y'want in?

Sure. [ Shrugging. ] Don't hit on the waitress.

I ain't making no promises. [ He winks as he turns his back to head to the bar, drapes himself over it like he owns the damn thing, and low and behold the barmaid is giggling and batting her eyelashes within moments.

The drinks come, though, and he happily takes her number beside taking them over, a beer each and a double scotch. It'll save another trip so soon. ] Here y'go, get that down you.

[ Bucky arches his eyebrow, but takes the scotch, sniffs at it before taking a gulp. It's got a nice burn to it, one that he doesn't make him feel light-headed straight away, which is a bonus. ]

So what's her name?

[ Howard's doesn't drink his scotch as gingerly, downing half of it in one go as soon as he settles in the seat. ]

Said her name was Mary. Pretty, huh?

Yeah.

[ He lifts his gaze, then lets it drop, clearly not interested. ]

Y'could be more pleased.

[ Supping at the beer, leaning across the table, lowering his voice. ] If y'interested, I could put in a word? See if she'd be interested.

[ Shaking his head. ] Nah, c'mon. I don't need you to set me up.

[ Eyeing him. ] I ain't seen you with a dame since I got here.

[ Side-eyes. ] Maybe I'm jus' more subtle'n you.

There's nothing subtle 'bout you, buddy.

So why the sudden interest?

Noticed it for a while, just don't seem like you.

Maybe y'just got the wrong impression o' me.

So y'ain't the ladies man everyone seems to think you are?

Even if I were, y'wouldn't know.

[ Pouting, giving him puppy eyes, or something close to it across the table. ]

[ Rolling his own. ] You're a creep.
