[ Why Bucky thinks taking Howard out for a drink is a good idea, he'll never know. Maybe he feels a little sorry for him with the whole Tony thing, maybe it's because Howard's of his time, maybe he just wants to get drunk. He doesn't know.

But he is leaning against the table top in the bar, glass in his hand. ] What do you mean you've never had a foot-long? They don't do hot dogs for fancy folk?

[ Howard doesn't question the reasoning behind this, if anything he feels secretly relieved of the company. He's got work here, sure, but it's not with the same freedoms that he knows and misses, and he's not exactly the most popular man in town. ]

[It's voicemail. She waited until she was sure he was busy to leave the message since actually talking to anyone right now is less than ideal. Her voice is small and there's a failure of an attempt at keeping a light tone.]

So...hey. It's Charlie. Ed left the City and...[And then she hangs up because saying more is sort of impossible right now.]

[ Howard listens to the message, starts to call, but then hangs up, using what social awareness he does have and decides to text instead. ]

Can we make plans for later? I'm kind of a mess right now. I think I need a little bit. I just needed to tell someone he left.

[It's late - way after Tiny Tony's bedtime kind of late - when Steve comes by Howard's. He shuffles his feet for a second, then knocks]

[ Howard's sitting on the couch by an array of empty beer bottles, not quite drunk, but he's trying his best. He calls out loud enough. ]

[Charlie is a brat. And a troll so when it came time for her and Howard to name their hedgehog, she immediately went for Sonic. And she kept the backstory of his name a secret until now. After much searching, she finally found what she needed so...Howard will come home to three things waiting outside his door for him;

1) First there is this with easy instructions as to how to set it up.

2) And then there is this because there's no point in having a video game system if you have no games. It also comes with instructions.

3) And because she's not that big a pain in the ass, she's let him dinner. Home-made macaroni and cheese with breadcrumbs and ham. Not that boxed stuff.

There's a note;

[ Howard glances around the hallway when he reaches his apartment to find the gifts there, but he quickly scoops them up and takes them inside.

He examines the console and game, setting it up as he eats the food, which doesn't take long for someone who picks up technology easily enough, and then he's grabbing his communications device, click on Lena's name. ]

Heard about these things in passing. This why the name makes people laugh? 'Cause I was beginning to wonder.

[It's a pretty nondescript, folded piece of paper. White, a bit sturdier than your usual sheet of paper, but nothing on the front to even indicate what it is. It's laying on Howard's desk. On the inside, it'll say-]

[ It's not often he'll admit that he needs Howard Stark for something so he's pretty glad the man in question missed the whole becoming a child antic. He needs to butter Stark up, not be annoyed that he saw him as something weak.

So he lets himself down to the lab, a bottle of scotch in his hands. He knows Howard doesn't even realise he's here, so he just places it on the desk with a thunk. ] You'd think the war'd have given you a better sense of self-preservation, buddy.

[ Something sparks as Howard starts, body stiffening as he tries to conceal the fact that he jumped at the bottle being put down forcefully.

But, hey, a bottle of scotch. ] Y'looking for a date for the night, Barney?
